About Me

I’ve played very many different roles in my life and one thread is recurrent – helping to empower people, helping them gain new perspectives, see new opportunities, overcome barriers,  gain new skills, find new opportunities… one way or another, I tend to support people at various stages of their life journeys… I found this thread so highly satisfying that I decided to retrain as a counsellor/psychotherapist and personal development coach.

I love my work and the opportunities it gives me to help people who are distressed, frustrated, and/or feel stuck to gain clarity and overcome barriers by working with them to create pathways to enable their freedom of choice for empowered living, through working therapeutically with individuals, couples, families and groups.

In my downtime, I can sometimes be found playing word games, watching TV/Netflix dramas, listening to the radio, going on walks, visiting the theatre, watching musicals, and visiting places where I can hang out by a body of water.

Experience:

In addition to my private practice, I have worked in collaboration with Hestia, a charity that supports adults and children in times of crisis.  I was part of a team that provided counselling support to vulnerable people who experienced displacement, loss, and trauma as a result of the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017.

I also work in collaboration with Salvation Army, Hestia, and Migrant Help to support of adults who have been victims of modern-day slavery.

I have previously collaborated with Woman’s Trust and Solace Women’s Aid both of which support women who have been affected by Domestic Violence.

I am an associate with MenCASA, a project that supports male victims of Domestic Violence and false accusation

I have also partnered with Centre for Better Health,  a community-based charity that supports wellbeing and recovery from mental ill-health.

I volunteered as a guide at Crossroads Retreats, a charity that supports individuals to (re)discover their sense of direction and/or identity when at a crossroads.

I currently offer supervision at City Gates Counselling Service, Hackney Quest and the University of East London.

A mum and an author (Beauty’s Story),  I previously worked as a journalist, an administrator, a tutor in further and adult education, a coordinator of an educational charity, a weight loss consultant and group facilitator.

Qualifications:

Now, that’s enough about me.  What about you?  How may I help?
